I was asked this today and the answer is YES! :-) I can see the mountains from my upstairs windows and it's the same in Denver. They are super close--Denver is at the foot of the Front Range.
If anyone is interested in an easy hike one day we could definitely do that. I'll start researching easy hikes/hikes to do with kids.

Woman! I LOVE the idea of a hike! How awesome would that be!! I am so excited already!! Oh, and don't tell Susan, but I will be hiking in flipflops! :)
